Below are some tips on where to travel in South Moravia each day


6:00 p.m. – Arrival by train, bus, or car in Brno

  • Check-In at Accommodation
  • Head to your chosen accommodation in Brno to check-in and freshen up for the rest of the day. There are many hotels and guesthouses to choose from, catering to various preferences and budgets.

 

DAY 1:


9:00 a.m. – Breakfast at Zelny Trh

  • Zelny Trh: Start your day at this historic marketplace from the 13th century, where you can find fresh produce and local delicacies. For breakfast, enjoy one of the many cafes in the area offering top-quality coffee and homemade pastries
  • Duration: 1 hour

10:00 a.m. – Tour of the Labyrinth Under Zelny Trh

  • Labyrinth Under Zelny Trh: Explore the medieval underground cellars, once used for storage, winemaking, and shelter. The tour includes exhibits on alchemy, medieval life, and legends.
  • Duration: 1 hour

11:00 a.m. – Walk Through the Historic Center

  • Reduta Theatre: Take a stroll and stop at one of Central Europe’s oldest theaters, where Mozart once performed.
  • Duration: 30 minutes

11:30 a.m. – Visit to the Old Town Hall

  • Old Town Hall: Discover Brno’s oldest secular building, famous for its tilted pinnacle. See the Brno Dragon (a stuffed crocodile) and learn about the wooden wheel legend. Don’t miss the Town Hall Tower (63m) for stunning city views.

12:30 p.m. – Lunch in the City Center

  • Enjoy a lunch break at one of the many excellent restaurants in the city center.

2:00 p.m. – Namesti Svobody and Its Attractions

  • Namesti Svobody: Explore Brno’s main square, hosting markets and events. Visit the Astronomical Clock, which releases a glass ball daily at 11:00 a.m. Admire the historic palaces, including the House of the Lords of Lipa and Klein’s Palace.
  • Duration: 1 hour

5:00 p.m. – Enjoy diner at a local restaurants

8:00 p.m. – Discover the nightlife in the city center, where you’ll find plenty of bars and clubs.

 

DAY 2:


9:00 a.m. – Arrival and Visit to Spilberk Castle

  • Spilberk Castle: Start the day with a visit to one of Brno’s most iconic landmarks. This medieval fortress offers stunning views of the city and houses a museum focusing on the castle’s history, including its role as a military stronghold and prison.
  • Duration: 1 hour

10:30 a.m. – Visit to Moravske Namesti (Moravian Square)

  • Moravske Namesti: Walk through one of the main squares in Brno, surrounded by significant buildings like the Church of St. Thomas and various historic architecture. It’s a great spot to experience the vibe of the city, with opportunities to take photos and learn about Brno’s urban development.

11:30 a.m. – Visit to Villa Tugendhat

  • Villa Tugendhat: Head to the famous Villa Tugendhat, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a masterpiece of modern architecture designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. Explore the villa’s innovative design and learn about its history and significance in the context of architectural development in the 20th century.

8:15 a.m. – Departure to Slavkov u Brna by train, bus or car

9:00 a.m. – Arrival in Slavkov u Brna

  • Classicist castle in Slavkov: Start the day with a visit to the magnificent classicist-style Slavkov Castle (also known as Austerlitz Castle). Explore the grand rooms and stunning park that surrounds the castle, which played a key role in the Battle of Austerlitz.

  • Valtice Castle is a stunning Baroque palace that once served as the residence of the Liechtenstein family. The castle is renowned for its opulent rooms, including the impressive state halls and elegant salons. Take a stroll in the castle’s expansive gardens, which offer a perfect view of the surrounding vineyards.

11:45 a.m. – Diana’s Temple

  • Located in the Valtice area, Diana’s Temple is a neoclassical pavilion, offering a beautiful view of the surrounding countryside and vineyards. The structure was originally built to celebrate the goddess Diana, symbolizing the hunting culture of the aristocratic family who resided in Valtice. From here, you can also enjoy panoramic views over the entire Lednice-Valtice cultural landscape.

1:00 p.m. – St. Hubert Chapel

  • St. Hubert Chapel is a small but stunning Baroque chapel situated near Valtice Castle. It was built in honor of St. Hubert, the patron saint of hunters. The chapel’s serene atmosphere and beautiful frescoes make it a peaceful stop during your visit.
  • Duration: 30 minutes

2:30 p.m. – Temple of the Three Graces

  • A striking classical temple located within the vast gardens of the Valtice estate, the Temple of the Three Graces is a charming neoclassical building. The temple offers a scenic view of the surrounding landscape, and the name refers to the three Graces of Greek mythology—Aglaea, Euphrosyne, and Thalia—who represent beauty, charm, and joy.

3:45 p.m. – Enjoy a lunch break at one of the many excellent restaurants in the center of Tawn of Valtice

5:00 p.m. – Moving to Town of mikulov by bus or car

6:00 p.m. – Check-In at Accommodation. In the Mikulov are many hotels in and guesthouses to choose from and also offers great dinners.

 

DAY 6:


9:00 a.m. – Mikulov Castle

  • Start the day at Mikulov Castle, a Renaissance castle with exhibitions on local history and the Dietrichstein family. Enjoy the castle’s gardens and panoramic views of the town and vineyards.
  • Duration: 1 hour

11:00 a.m. – Dietrichstein Tomb

  • Visit the Dietrichstein Tomb in Mikulov Cemetery, where the influential Dietrichstein family is buried. Learn about the local aristocracy’s history.
  • Duration: 30 minutes

11:30 a.m. – Kozi Castle

  • Explore the ruins of Kozi Castle, offering great views of Mikulov and a peaceful atmosphere for a short hike.
  • Duration: 45 minutes

12:30 p.m. – Lunch in Mikulov

1:30 p.m. – Turold Cave

  • Visit Turold Cave, known for its stalactites and stalagmites, offering a guided tour of this fascinating natural site.

2:30 p.m. – Way of the Cross on Holy Hill (Svaty Kopecek)

DAY 7:


8:00 a.m. – Check-out in Mikulov

8:30 a.m. – Departure to Pavlov by bus or car

9:00 a.m. – Arrival in Pavlov

  • Start your day by arriving in the picturesque village of Pavlov, located near the Palava Hills and the Nove Mlyny Reservoir.
  • Duration: 30 minutes

9:30 a.m. – Pavlov Archaeopark Visit

  • Explore the Pavlov Archaeopark, an open-air museum showcasing the history of the Paleolithic period. Learn about the ancient settlements of the region and see reconstructed dwellings.
