Place of peace and great stories. Located in the Hradec Kralove region, it’s called the Zirec area.
The Zirec area is a unique project established and run by the local charity organization Cerveny Kostelec. During your visit to the Czech Republic, you should stop by the area as there is so much to see. The Museum of Bicycles, the garden of Herbs and Braun’s Bethlehem are some of the most notable attractions of the area. In the area lies a true rarity. There is a Baroque carillon which will play at the press of a button to give you a better experience of the place. Thanks to the nature of this place, a part of the cost of every ticket are donated to a charity which helps the handicapped.
The Museum of Cycling
The Museum is considered to be the crown of the Area. When you visit the exhibition, it is like taking a trip through the history of all bicycles. The season during which you can visit the museum ranges from April until September. The exhibition contains more than 200 bicycles. During your visit, you can try riding the oldest bicycle on a simulator, so it is safe for everyone to try. Apart from the oldest bike, there is also a collection of bicycles used in film and racing bikes. Once you’re finished basking in the glory of the history of cycling you can enjoy a short movie about bicycles.
The Herb Garden
Are you a fan of herbs? Then the Herb Garden of the Zirec Area is the place you should visit! Enjoy the smell of mint, lavender, lemon balm, thyme, and many other herbs. The whole wide world of herbs in one place, in one of the oldest gardens in Eastern Bohemia with a 3-century old tradition. The opening season starts in April and ends in October. If you find any herb that you really like, you’ll be able to buy it and the money goes to charity. It’s a win-win for everybody!
