To celebrate carnivals we eat not only meat, wine and plum brandy but also desserts. Sweets are a must-have in Czech cuisine just like this heavenly pastry in our recipe.

2 cups all-purpose flour
2 egg yolks
1 Tbs of powdered sugar
1 cup shortening for frying
a bit of milk
1 tsp of baking powder
salt to taste (a pinch)
Mix flour in with egg yolks, a pinch of salt, baking powder and sugar. Add a bit of milk if it is necessary. According to texture, add flour and work the dough into a smooth and non-sticky whole. Let the dough rise for about 1 hour in the fridge or in a cold place. Roll thin flat cake, cut by tracing wheel on small squares or triangles and fry in hot grease. Let dry, sprinkle sugar on it and serve.
