Town of Semily is located in the Liberec region in the tourist area of the Bohemian Paradise. Within 12 miles there are tourist attractions, which include mountain ridges, the Giant Mountains and Jizera Mountains, the rock towns (sandstone formations) of the Bohemian Paradise, castles, chateaux and in the immediate vicinity of the town there is a Unique canyon of the Jizera River with the Rieger’s Path and Bozkov Dolomite Caves.
The Jizera Mountains are the northernmost Czech mountain range. It is a region of steep, rocky slopes, somber marshland and never-ending forests. The region is wild in its prehistoric preservation yet has been settled by people for ages. The mixed mountain forests here were replaced with pine mono cultures and these subsequently by extensive growths of replacement tree species, especially North American blue spruce.
