Below are some tips on where to travel in Usti nad Labem region each day


 

6:00 p.m. – Arrival by plane in Prague, followed by a bus or car transfer to Usti nad Labem. The bus ride takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes. By car, it takes around 1 hour and 15 minutes

 

DAY 1: Usti nad Labem & the Elbe Valley


8:00 AM – Breakfast at the local traditional cafe (try traditional Czech pastries).

  • Duration: 1 hour

9:00 AMVetruse Hill

  • Ride the funicular to this hilltop viewpoint.
  • Explore the observation tower and enjoy panoramic views of Usti nad Labem and the Elbe River.
  • Duration: 1 hour

10:30 AMStrekov Castle

  • Visit this dramatic 14th-century castle perched above the Elbe.
  • Wander through Gothic ruins and learn about their connection to poet Goethe.
  • Duration: 1,5 hours

12:30 PM – Lunch break at local Restaurant (riverfront dining with Czech classics like svickova).

  • Duration: 1 hour

2:00 PMVanov Waterfall

  • Hike through a leafy gorge to the tallest waterfall in the Czech Highlands (12 meters).
  • Duration: 1 hour

4:00 PMMilesovka Mountain

  • Drive to the “Queen of the Czech Highlands.” Hike or drive to the summit for 360° views and visit the historic weather observatory.
  • Duration: 2 hours

7:00 PM – Check into the hotel in Litomerice and have dinner.

 

 

DAY 2: Litomerice & Terezin Memorial


8:30 AM – Breakfast at the hotel.

  • Duration: 30 minutes

9:30 AMLitomerice Old Town

  • Stroll through Baroque squares, visit the Dome of St. Stephen.
  • Duration: 2 hours

12:00 PM – Lunch at local brewery with craft beers and hearty dishes.

  • Duration: 1 hour

Riverboat (seasonal)

1:30 PMTerezin Memorial

  • Guided tour of the WWII Jewish Ghetto Museum and the haunting Small Fortress.
  • Duration: 3 hours

5:00 PMHazmburk Castle Ruins

  • Climb to this iconic 13th-century ruin with twin towers.
  • Photograph the sunset over the Elbe Valley.
  • Duration: 1,5 hours

7:30 PM – Dinner at a local restaurant located on the town square.

 

DAY 3: Bohemian Switzerland National Park


8:00 AM – Early breakfast and drive to Hrensko
9:30 AMPravcicka Gate

  • Hike through Edmund’s Gorge (optional boat ride) to Europe’s largest sandstone arch. Explore viewpoints and the Falcon’s Nest lodge.
  • Duration: 3 hours

12:30 PM – Lunch at a restaurant near Pravcicka Gate.

  • Duration: 1 hour

2:30 PMJetrichovice Viewpoints

  • Hike to Mariina Skala and Vileminina Stena for breathtaking vistas of the sandstone formations.
  • Duration: 2,5 hours

5:30 PM – Drive to Decin

  • Duration: 30 minutes

6:30 PMDecin Castle

  • Tour the Baroque palace and stroll through the Rose Garden.
  • Duration: 1 hour

8:30 PM – Check into the Hotel in Decin. Dinner at a local restaurant.

 

DAY 4: Thermal Springs, Castle Alchemy & Artisan Crafts


8:00 AM – Breakfast in the city centre and Drive to Teplice

  • Duration: 1 hour and 15 minutes

9:30 AM – Teplice Spa Experience 

  • Soak in the historic thermal baths at Lazne Teplice (indoor/outdoor pools). Opt for a 30-minute mineral massage (budget-friendly).
  • Stroll through the Spa Gardens (palace-lined promenades, Mozart once visited!).
  • Duration: 2 hours

12:00 AM – Drive to Osek Monastery.

  • Duration: 20 minutes

12:30 PM – Osek Cistercian Monastery 

  • Tour this 800-year-old Gothic gem with a stunning cloister and medieval pharmacy.
  • Lunch at Klasterni Senk (monastery brewery—try monk-style dark beer and roast pork).
  • Duration: 1,5 hours

2:30 PM – Drive to Duchcov

  • Duration: 15 minutes

3:00 PM – Duchcov Castle & Casanova’s Legacy 

  • Explore the Baroque chateau where Giacomo Casanova spent his final years. See his library and the “Casanova’s Grave” exhibit.
  • Duration: 1,5 hours

5:00 PM – Drive to Kliny via Krupka

  • Duration: 1,5 hours

6:00 PM – Krupka Tin Mining Demo (optional)

  • Quick stop at Stary Martin Mine.
  • Duration: 45 minutes

7:30 PM – Check into the Hotel in Kliny. Dinner with Ore Mountain specialities.

 

DAY 5: Most & Industrial Legacy


8:00 AM – Breakfast near the hotel (15 mins). Drive to Most

  • Duration: 1 hour and 15 minutes

9:30 AMChurch of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary

  • Marvel at this 16th-century Gothic church, which was moved 841 meters to save it from mining demolition.
  • Duration: 1,5 hours

11:30 AMHnevin Castle

  • Explore the hilltop castle ruins and the alchemy museum.
  • Enjoy lunch at the castle restaurant with views of Lake Most.
  • Duration: 2 hours

2:00 PMMost Lake

  • Relax at this artificial lake created in a former coal mine. Rent a paddleboat or cycle the lakeside trail.
  • Duration: 1,5 hours

4:00 PM – Return to Usti nad Labem. Farewell dinner in a traditional local restaurant in the city centre.

 

Useful Advice

  • Transport: We recommend a rented car for maximum flexibility during your trip. Most locations are easily accessible by road, allowing comfortable transfers between cities and natural areas.
  • Tickets: Book Terezin Memorial tours and Pravcicka Gate parking online.
  • Pack: Hiking boots and a rain jacket in case it starts raining.
