FRIED MUSHROOM BURGERSCzech name: Houbové karbanátky

A Czech Folk vegetarian recipe.
2 Tbs butter
1 onion, finely chopped
1 lb fresh portobello or button mushrooms, cleaned and cut into small pieces
1/2 tsp ground caraway seeds
fresh ground black pepper
1 hot dog bun, cut into small pieces
Melt the butter in the frying pan and fry the onion and bacon. Add mushrooms, caraway seeds, salt, and pepper, mix well, and simmer over medium heat until tender. Place the mushroom mixture in a bowl, add the bun and egg and mix well.
Shape the mixture into 4 burger patties and coat them with flour, then egg, then the breadcrumbs. Heat oil in the frying pan and fry the burgers until golden brown. Serve the burgers with mashed potatoes or by themselves.
